Nevada City
 Nevada City is a center of nightlife for western Nevada County, with numerous restaurants, watering holes and venues for live entertainment. The Old Nevada Brewery is a historic brewery built of stone more that a century ago. Visitors can sip wine at the Nevada City Winery and Indian Springs winery tasting rooms or shop for unique gifts and products in downtown specialty shops.
In the past ten years, more than 10,000 newcomers have chosen to call the Sierra Nevada foothills their home. New homes are springing up all across the rolling landscape as many people choose to build on rural acreage. Several areas, however, have become distinct new communities and others are long established towns. The incorporated cities of Grass Valley and Nevada City have been inhabited since the early 1850s. Along the winding, narrow streets are lovely restored and original examples of Victorian and early 20th century architecture. Subdivisions of newer homes have cropped up along the outskirts of town, offering in-town amenities and more contemporary designs. Several rural residential development communities blend the beauty of trees, lakes and wildlife with modern conveniences such as well-maintained roads, public sewer and water systems, golf courses, clubhouses or tennis courts. |
